It's A New Day

This Saori weaving was inspired by Hokusai’s woodblock print The Wave.' Building on that influence, I mounted the weaving on a handmade, cradled wooden panel and added two wooden wedges on each side to suggest the break of dawn. The forms also evoke cranes flying at different heights over a body of water in the early morning light. Created after several years marked by COVID and collective hardship, this piece conveys an optimistic message of renewal and hope. It reflects the belief that no matter how difficult the present moment may be, there is always a new morning ahead. On a deeper level, It's

A New Day speaks to resilience—the assurance that the sun will rise again, and that tomorrow brings the promise of light, movement, and possibility.
